Miami County COVID Risk Elevated

MIAMI COUNTY HAS BEEN ELEVATED TO THE ORANGE RISK LEVEL FOR COVID-

19. THIS IS DUE TO MIAMI COUNTY MEETING THE CRITERIA FOR 3 OF THE 7

ALERT INDICATORS. THERE HAVE BEEN 97 NEW COVID-19 CASES AND 8 NEW

HOSPITALIZATIONS SINCE JULY 1ST, 2020. MANY OF THESE CASES STEM FROM

VARIOUS SOCIAL GATHERINGS, LIKE GRADUATION PARTIES AND 4TH OF JULY

EVENTS.


Piqua-Caldwell Scavenger Hut a Success

NEARLY 150 PEOPLE TURNED OUT LAST SATURDAY FOR THE PIQUA-CALDWELL

HISTORIC SCAVENGER HUNT. THIRTY-FOUR QUALIFIED TO BE ENTERED INTO A

PRIZE DRAWING AFTER FINDING 16 ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS IN THE

DISTRICT. VOLUNTEER HELP WAS PROVIDED BY HONOR SOCIETY STUDENTS

WHO EARNED COMMUNITY SERVICE CREDIT.


Lockington Fire Offering Dinners

THE LOCKINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT WILL OFFER DRIVE-THRU ONLY CHICKEN

OR PORK CHOP DINNERS FROM 11 A.M. TO 2 P.M. SUNDAY, JULY 19, OR UNTIL

SOLD OUT, DINNERS COST $8 AND ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. THERE WILL

BE NO PRE-SALE TICKETS. THERE WILL BE 250 DINNERS AVAILABLE, ALONG

WITH KETTLE CORN AT $5 PER BAG. SHELBY COUNTY BICENTENNIAL GUN

RAFFLE TICKETS ALSO WILL BE AVAILABLE.


Two-Alarm Fire in Laura

FIRE FIGHTERS FROM MULTIPLE DEPARTMENTS ACROSS AT LEAST TWO

COUNTIES BATTLED A TWO-ALARM FIRE THAT RAZED A BARN NEAR

LAURA. FIRST CREWS TO ARRIVE ON DELISLE-FOURMAN ROAD FOUND A LARGE

WOOD FRAME BARN FULLY ENGULFED IN HEAVY SMOKE AND

FLAMES. FIREFIGHTERS WERE ABLE TO BRING THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL

LIMITING DAMAGE TO THE NEARBY HOME AND OUTBUILDINGS. NO INJURIES

WERE REPORTED. THE CAUSE AND DAMAGE ESTIMATE HAVE YET TO BE

DETERMINED.


Bradford Pumpkin Show Cancelled

THE ANNUAL BRADFORD PUMPKIN SHOW, SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 13-

THROUGH-THE 17 HAS BEEN CANCELLED, A VICTIM OF THE COVID-19

PANDEMIC. THE FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION BOARD AND COMMITTEES SAY THE

SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS ON THE FESTIVAL

WOULD BE TOO GREAT TO ENFORCE.


Troy City Council Meeting Interrupted

A TROY CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION BEING CONDUCTED VIA ZOOM WAS

INTERRUPTED MONDAY BY UNIDENTIFIED INTRUDERS WHO DISPLAYED

INAPPROPRIATE VISUALS AND SPEWED A STRING OF PROFANITY. THE INCIDENT

OCCURRED DURING A DISCUSSION TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO WEAR FACE

MASKS DUE TO COVID-19 AND AN INCREASE IN CASES. THE INTRUDERS WERE

EJECTED FROM THE MEETING AND PUT THEM INTO A ROOM FOR VIEWERS. THE

INTRUDERS THEN LEFT.


Versailles Poultry Days Coming Up

THE VERSAILLES POULTRY DAYS WILL BE HELD AUGUST 14-THROUGH THE 16

AT HERITAGE PARK, THE FIRST TIME THE FESTIVAL HAS BEEN HELD IN A

DIFFERENT LOCATION IN OVER SIXTY YEARS. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS

APPROVED HOLDING THE FESTIVAL SUBJECT TO ADHERING TO A SAFETY PLAN

AND THE COUNTY REMAINING HEALTHY.


Johnston Farm & Indian Agency Open

THE JOHNSTON FARM & INDIAN AGENCY IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC EVERY

THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY THROUGH THE END OF AUGUST. WHILE SPECIAL EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELED THIS SUMMER, GUESTS CAN ENJOY THE

GENERAL HARRISON CANAL BOAT, THE MUSEUM, INDIAN MOUND AND THE

HISTORIC FARMSTEAD. ADMISSION IS $9 FOR ADULTS AND $4 FOR CHILDREN 5

AND UP.
