Troy Investigating Weekend Fire

THE TROY FIRE DEPARTMENT IS LOOKING INTO THE CAUSE OF A FIRE SATURDAY MORNING AT 8 HAUENSTEIN COURT IN TROY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THREE ADULTS ARE BEING HELPED BY THE NORTHERN MIAMI VALLEY CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS.


Hearing on Troy Refreshment Area

A PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE CITY OF TROY’S PROPOSED OUTDOOR REFRESHMENT AREA WILL BE HELD THIS EVENING AT 7 P.M. AT THE HOBART ARENA’S BRAVO ROOM. THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO CITY COUNCIL’S REGULAR BUSINESS AGENDA. UNDER THE PROPOSAL, PERSONS 21 AND OVER CAN PURCHASE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN A SPECIAL CUP TO BE CARRIED ONLY WITHIN A DESIGNATED DOWNTOWN AREA.


Animal Shelter Alters Hours

THE MIAMI COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER HAS CHANGED ITS HOURS DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS AND STAFFING. THE SHELTER, ALONG COUNTY ROAD 25A, IS OPEN MONDAY AND FRIDAY FROM 10 A.M. TO 4 P.M.; 10 A.M. TO 2 P.M. ON TUESDAY AND CLOSED THURSDAY; ON WEDNESDAY, THE SHELTER IS OEPN FROM 10AM TO 6PM AND ON SATURDAYS FROM 10AM TO 2PM.

Ohio Limited to Junior Fairs

IT’S OFFICIAL, ALL COUNTY FAIRS IN OHIO ARE NOW LIMITED TO JUNIOR FAIRS ONLY. THE STATE RELEASED THE FORMAL ORDER FROM GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE THURSDAY EVENING. MIAMI COUNTY HEALTH COMMISSIONER DENNIS PROPES SAID THE FAIR’S PREVIOUS COVID-19 OPERATION PLANS COULD HAVE WORKED WITH THE COMMUNITY’S COOPERATION, BUT HE ALSO AGREES WITH DEWINE’S LATEST PRECAUTIONS.


Sidney Holding Virtual Council Meeting

THE SIDNEY CITY COUNCIL WILL HOLD A WORKSHOP SESSION MEETING AT 6:30 THIS EVENING. BOARD MEMBERS WILL MEET IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS AND OTHERS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN VIRTUALLY. THERE WILL BE A PRESENTATION ON THE GATEWAY LANDSCAPING AND THE ANNUAL CITY UTILITIES REPORT. THERE WILL ALSO BE A DISCUSSION ON GOLF CARTS, UTILITY VEHICLES AND OTHER LOW-SPEED VEHICLES AND A TOWING SERVICES UPDATE. COUNCIL WILL ALSO HOLD AN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO CONSIDER THE EMPLOYMENT OF A PUBLIC EMPLOYEE.


Downtown Troy Road Closures

A PORTION OF WEST CANAL STREET AND SOUTH CHERRY STREET NEAR DOWNTOWN TROY WILL CLOSE TODAY TO ACCOMMODATE A DEMOLITION PROJECT AT 126 S. CHERRY STREET. WEST CANAL STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN SOUTH MARKET AND SOUTH PLUM STREETS WHILE SOUTH CHERRY STREET WILL BE CLOSED FROM WEST FRANKLIN STREET TO WEST CANAL STREET. THE REOPENING OF THE STREETS IS SCHEDULED FOR 5 P.M FRIDAY, AUGUST 7TH. DETOUR SIGNS WILL NOT BE POSTED.


Pleasant Hills Buggy Returns

A HORSE DRAWN BUGGY DESIGNED AND BUILT OVER A CENTURY AGO IN PLEASANT HILL IS BACK HOME. A FAMILY IN NORTHERN OHIO FOUND THE BUGGY IN THE BARN OF A DECEASED RELATIVE. DISCOVERING THAT IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN PLEASANT HILL, THE FAMILY DECIDED TO DONATE IT BACK TO VILLAGE WHERE IT WAS BUILT. THE BUGGY, CALLED A ROUNDABOUT, WAS BUILT BY THE JESSE BEERY COMPANY. THE PLEASANT HILL HISTORY CENTER HOPES TO HAVE THE BUGGY RESTORED AND PUT ON DISPLAY.
