Stabbing In Troy

An altercation in Troy between two teenagers resulted in the stabbing of one of them. Police say the male stabbing victim, taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital, will survive after being stabbed in the chest in the 800 block of Fountain Street Friday night. A suspect is being held in juvenile detention..

New Troy Police Sergeant

The City of Troy officially promotes its newest police sergeant during ceremonies at city hall this afternoon. Jeffrey Waite has been with the Troy Police Department since September 21, 1998. Over the years he has served Troy as an Evidence Technician, Field Training Officer, Crisis Intervention Officer, DARE Instructor, and a School Resource Officer. Smoking Caused Greenville Fire

Fire officials in Greenville say the careless disposal of smoking materials gets the blame for a fire in the 600 block of Wayne Avenue. It was revealed that smoking materials had been tossed from a third-story attic window starting a fire a rain gutter on the front porch of the structure. Crews were able to knock the fire down and prevent the blaze from spreading to the main structure. No injuries were reported..

45 day Closure Underway

Attention motorists using County Road 25-A in Shelby County. A bridge replacement project gets underway today. Shelby County Engineer, Bob Geuy, says 25-A will be closed between Miami-Shelby East Road and Kirkwood Road and detour signs will be in place. The bridge replacement should take approximately 45 days to complete.

Police Pursuit Ends in Crash and Arrest

A Fairborn man is in the Miami County Jail after a police pursuit in Piqua ended with a stolen vehicle crashing into a duplex in the 300 block of South Main Street. Arrested at the scene was 19-year old Coltin Downing. He, along with two passengers was not injured. Police also say no one in the residence was injured. Downing, is charged with failure to comply with an officer, receiving stolen property, and resisting arrest. He’s also cited for a number of traffic violations. A preliminary hearing for Downing is scheduled for Wednesday (Sept. 23).

Safety Week Upon Us

This week is Child Passenger Safety Week. The week is designated to make sure your child is in the correct car seat, that it’s properly installed and used, and that it’s registered with its manufacturer to ensure you receive important safety updates. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, from 2017-1019, there were 1,500 unbelted children under age 13 killed or seriously injured in a vehicle where safety equipment was available. Of those, 148 were serious injuries.

Suspect Sought In Hit And Run

Troy police are looking for an older white pickup truck that could have a missing side-view mirror. Officers want to talk to the driver after a 13-year old boy was struck Saturday while riding his bike on Harrison Street. The boy was seriously hurt in the crash, and his family is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver.

High Speed Chase In Sidney Area

Sidney police say a handgun found inside a car following a high-speed chase Saturday may have been used by one of the suspects in a past officer involved shooting. The chase started when a Sidney police officer tried to stop the car on northbound I-75 for an equipment violation. It ended after the car spun out in a bean field in the area of State Route 706 and Tawawa Maplewood Road. Three suspects ran, and a fourth stayed with the car…All four are in custody. It was later learned that the car was used in an armed robbery in the Cincinnati area earlier in the day.
