Fatal Crash in Troy

A CRASH NORTH OF TROY MONDAY LEFT ONE PERSON DEAD AFTER A DUMP TRUCK AND AN SUV COLLIDED AT THE INTERSECTION OF TROY-SIDNEY AND PETERSON ROADS. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE SUV WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE DIVER OF THE SUV AND ANOTHER PASSENGER INJURED WERE LISTED IN SERIOUS CONDITION ACCORDING TO MIAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES. ANOTHER PASSENGER IN THE SUV AND THE DUMP TRUCK DRIVER WERE NOT INJURED. ACCORDING TO PRELIMINARY REPORT, THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, AND CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER’S SIDE OF THE SUV.


100 Year Anniversary of Bradford Fire

IT WAS 100 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK THAT FIRE DESTROYED THE BUSINESS DISTRICT IN THE VILLAGE OF BRADFORD. THE BLAZE BROKE LATE NIGHT ON AUGUST 3RD AND CONTINUED TO BURN INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF AUGUST 4TH. BY THE TIME THE SMOKE SETTLED 46 HOMES AND BUSINESSES WERE DESTROYED. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE FIRE WAS RULED ARSON AND THE LOSSES IN 1920 DOLLARS WAS ESTIMATED AT ONE MILLION DOLLARS. A JAR OF STONES, MARBLES AND MELTED GLASS IS THE ONLY DEBRIS COLLECTED FROM THE FIRE THT IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF THE LOCAL HISTORICAL SOCIETY.


Tipp City Mini Golf Event

A MINIATURE GOLF ADVENTURE WILL BE HELD FRIDAY IN DOWNTOWN TIPP CITY FROM 5-TO-8PM. NOW IN ITS THIRD YEAR, EACH OF 20 PARTICIPATING MERCHANTS WILL CREATE A PUTTING GREEN TO CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS AND SHOW OFF THEIR BUSINESS. PARTICIPANTS ARE INVITED TO BRING THEIR OWN PUTTERS AND WEAR THEIR GOLF GEAR. ALL COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES WILL BE FOLLOWED. THE COST IS $10 FOR A FAMILY OR $5 PER PERSON.


Miami Valley Veterans Museum Hosts Congressman

THE MIAMI VALLEY VETERANS MUSEUM WILL HOST CONGRESSMAN WARREN DAVIDSON AT A BREAKFAST EVENT TOMORROW AT 9 A.M. THE BREAKFAST, PREPARED BY THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, WILL BE SERVED AT THE MUSEUM’S NEW LOCATION ON COUNTY ROAD 25A. CONGRESSMAN DAVIDSON WON A SPECIAL ELECTION IN 2016 TO FILL THE REMAINDER OF THE TERM OF JOHN BOEHNER. DAVIDSON WAS THEN RE-ELECTED TO HIS FIRST FULL TERM IN NOVEMBER OF 2016, AND TODAY SITS ON THE HOUSE FINANCIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE.


Miami County Early Voting Office

MIAMI COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HAVE APPROVED A PLAN FROM THE MIAMI COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO USE THE FORMER OSU EXTENSION OFFICE SPACE AT THE MIAMI COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND TO OPEN ADDITIONAL DOORS TO THE COURTHOUSE FOR EARLY VOTING. OFF-DUTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES WILL ASSIST WITH SECURITY AFTER THE COURTHOUSE CLOSES AT 4 P.M., AS WELL AS DURING WEEKEND EARLY VOTING HOURS.

BEGINNING TODAY, SOME SUBSCRIBERS TO MIAMI VALLEY TODAY WILL RECEIVE THE NEWSPAPER BY MAIL. THE NEWSPAPER EXPLAINED THAT DUE TO A SHORTAGE OF STAFF FOR HOME DELIVERY, THIS METHOD OF DELIVERY IS EXPECTED TO BE TEMPORARY.
