Bond Set for Man Who Killed Wife

BOND FOR A DARKE COUNTY MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS WIFE TO REMAIN

AT 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS. AN ATTORNEY FOR 58-YEAR OLD RICHARD

BOWMAN ASKED THE COURT FOR AN OWN RECOGNIZANCE BOND FOR HIS

CLIENT. BOWMAN WAS ARRESTED ON JUNE 26 FOR THE APRIL 24 MURDER OF

HIS 60-YEAR OLD WIFE, TERESA AT THEIR HOME ON DISHER ROAD. FOLLOWING

THE BOND HEARING, JUDGE JONATHAN HEIN ISSUED A WRITTEN DECISION NOT

TO CHANGE BOWMAN’S BOND.

THE MAIN STREET PIQUA BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE HAS COMPLETED

SEVERAL PROJECTS IN DOWNTOWN PIQUA. THIS YEAR, FLOWERS AND

GREENERY FOR THE LARGE METAL AND CONCRETE FLOWER POTS LOCATED

THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN PIQUA, WERE PURCHASED FROM THE UPPER

VALLEY CAREER CENTER THROUGH ITS LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT

PROGRAM. PLANTING WAS DONE BY MEMBERS OF THE BEAUTIFICATION

COMMITTEE, ALONG WITH SUPPORT FROM THE CAREER CENTER AND CITY

WORKERS.


Two Arrested in Union City Assault

TWO MEN WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FRIDAY FOLLOWING AN ASSAULT

NEAR UNION CITY. THE ALLEGED INCIDENT HAPPENED ON SOUTH STATELINE

ROAD. THE VICTIM HAD BEEN SHOT AT AND STRUCK WITH A BASEBALL BAT

RESULTING IN A BROKEN BONE. THE VICTIM WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HIMSELF TO

CASEY’S GENERAL STORE FOR HELP. 37-YEAR OLD ERIC HOLDER WAS ARRESTED

FOR FELONIOUS ASSAULT, AND 28-YEAR OLD RICHARD CROWELL FOR

TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE.


Walk to End Alzheimers Finds New Site

IN LIGHT OF RESTRICTIONS CAUSED BY COVID-19, NEIGHBORHOODS, TRAILS

AND PARKS WILL BE THE SITE OF THIS YEAR’S 2020 WALK TO END

ALZHEIMER’S. INSTEAD OF HOSTING A LARGE GATHERING, THE ALZHEIMER’S

ASSOCIATION IS ENCOURAGING PARTICIPANTS TO WALK AS INDIVIDUALS OR IN

SMALL GROUPS. IN MIAMI AND SHELBY COUNTIES THE EVENT IS SCHEDULED

FOR SEPTEMBER 12. IN DARKE COUNTY IT’S SEPTEMBER 26. LAST YEAR ABOUT

4,000 MIAMI VALLEY RESIDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE WALK TO END

Darke County Denies Murderers Bond

DARKE COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT JUDGE, JONATHAN HEIN, HAS

DENIED A REQUEST FOR A CHANGE TO A MURDER SUSPECT’S BOND. BOND FOR

58-YEAR OLD RICHARD BOWMAN OF MISSISSINAWA TOWNSHIP WAS INITIALLY

SET AT 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS. HIS ATTORNEY HAD REQUESTED BOWMAN

BE OUT OF JAIL ON HIS OWN RECOGNIZANCE. BOWMAN IS ACCUSED OF

Shelby County Indicts Fraudulent Citizen

THE SHELBY COUNTY GRAND JURY HAS INDICTED 31-YEAR OLD AMBER LEE

RUSSELL OF SIDNEY FOR ALLEGEDLY OBTAINING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE USING

FRAUDULENT INFORMATION. SHE’S CHARGED WITH THEFT AND ILLEGAL USE

OF SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION OR WIC PROGRAM BENEFITS. RUSSELL

ALLEGEDLY RECEIVED ALMOST $13,000 IN FOOD ASSISTANCE, $22,000 IN CHILD

CARE, AND OVER $7,000 IN MEDICAID BENEFITS. RUSSELL’S ARRAIGNMENT IS

SCHEDULED FOR JULY 23 IN SHELBY COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT.
