Early Voting Begins

Early In-Person Voting begins today. In Miami County, voting takes place at the county courthouse. Voters will use the South entrance facing Main Street to enter and exit. Voters are asked to wear a mask and practice safe social distancing while in line and inside the polling area.

Meeting Cancelled

There will be no Piqua City Commission Meeting this evening. The city says the meeting was cancelled since there is no pending legislation for approval by Piqua City Commissioners.

County Covid-19 Numbers

Miami County Public Health says that since September 18th, there have been 229 new COVID-19 cases, 20 new hospitalizations and 6 new deaths reported. 465 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the county for all of September. This was up significantly from the 270 case in August. In Shelby County, the health department reports 20 new cases of COVID-19 during its Monday morning update, raising the county’s total to 719 cases.

No Covid-19 Cases Reported From Rally

A spokesperson with Miami County Public Health says last week’s political rally with Donald Trump Junior near Tipp City resulted in no positive cases of COVID-19 that they know of. They are monitoring the situation to see if anything develops. Public Health was not notified about the rally before it took place because political rallies are exempt from public health orders concerning COVID-19.

Sidney Fire

A fire early Saturday in Sidney caused $55,000 to a two-story duplex on Enterprise. It took several hours for crews to bring the fire under control. The Sidney Fire Department has called in the State Fire Marshall’s Office to assist in determining the cause of the fire. There were no injuries.

Pool Survey Available

The city of Piqua is seeking input on whether to renovate or replace the Municipal Swimming Pool. A survey has been posted online at surveymonkey.com/r/PiquaPool, or you can scan a QR code on the city’s website, piquaoh.org. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes, and those who enter an email address will be eligible to win a free family season pass to the pool when the project is finished. The survey will be open for public input until Oct. 30.

Country Club Seeking Members

The Piqua Country Club is looking for members. No initiation and no dues are required for a limited time. If you join before December 5, dues are waived until April 1, 2021. Final 2020 WACO Family

The WACO Air Museum is hosting its final Family Day event for the year this weekend (Oct 10 & 11) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will include free admission for the entire family during these limited hours. Support has been provided in part by the federal CARES Act of 2020. WACO Air Museum is located on South County Rd. 25A in Troy.
