Tipp City Historical Building Condemned

FOLLOWING SUNDAY’S REPORTED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO A HISTORIC DOWNTOWN TIPP CITY BUILDING, THE MIAMI COUNTY BUILDING DEPARTMENT HAS SINCE CONDEMNED THE SITE OF THE OLD TIPP BUGGY WHIP BUILDING ON EAST MAIN STREET. THE FIRST FLOOR HAD COLLAPSED INTO THE BASEMENT OF THE VACANT BUILDING. THE BUILDING WAS BEING SURVEYED MONDAY TO EVALUATE WHAT TO DO NEXT WITH THE STRUCTURE.


KitchenAid Closing

WHIRLPOOL, THE OWNERS OF THE KITCHENAID BRAND, WILL CLOSE THE KITCHENAID EXPERIENCE RETAIL STORE PERMANENTLY IN JULY, ACCORDING TO A GROUP REPRESENTING BUSINESSES IN GREENVILLE. THE STORE IS EXPECTED TO CLOSE BY THE END OF JULY AFTER BEING OPEN FOR OVER TWO DECADES AT THE LOCATION ON SOUTH BROADWAY STREET IN DOWNTOWN GREENVILLE.


Piqua-Caldwell Scavenger Hunt

THE PIQUA-CALDWELL HISTORIC DISTRICT ASSOCIATION WANTS TO HELP FAMILIES GET OUTDOORS FOR A LITTLE EXERCISE AND SUNSHINE WHILE HAVING FUN TOGETHER. A SCAVENGER HUNT WILL TAKE PLACE WITHIN THE HISTORIC DISTRICT, SATURDAY, JULY 11 FROM 11 A.M. TO 4 P.M. HUNTERS CAN PICK UP A MAP OF THE DISTRICT AT 324 W. ASH ST., BEGINNING AT 11 A.M. PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO SEARCH FOR 16 ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES IN THE DISTRICT AND WRITE DOWN THE ADDRESS FOR EACH ONE FOUND. THOSE WHO FIND ALL 16 FEATURES WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A DRAWING OF SEVERAL GIFT CARDS.


Troy Man in Court After Assault

A TROY MAN IS DUE IN COURT THURSDAY FOR A PRELIMINARY HEARING CONCERNING ASSAULT OF A POLICE OFFICER. 29-YEAR OLD BRANDON MILLER REMAINS IN THE MIAMI COUNTY JAIL ON 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND. HIS ARREST WAS MADE FOLLOWING A FOOT CHASE THROUGH THE STONYRIDGE NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON JUNE 24. IT ALL STARTED AS A SUSPICIOUS PERSONS CALL ON HUNTERS COURT. ACCORDING TO A POLICE REPORT, MILLER REPORTEDLY FAILED TO COMPLY WITH POLICE, RAN AND FOUGHT WITH AN OFFICER BEFORE HE WAS FINALLY SUBDUED.


4th of July Fireworks

TROY AND TIPP CITY ARE OFFERING FIREWORKS DISPLAYS ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. IN TROY THE DISPLAY WILL BE HELD AT TREASURE ISLAND PARK ALONG THE GREAT MIAMI RIVER. A CONCERT IS SCHEDULED FROM 8-TO-10PM AT THE PARK AND FOOD TRUCKS WILL BE ON HAND. IN TIPP CITY, THE FIREWORKS PROGRAM ON JULY 4 WILL ALSO INCLUDE FOOD TRUCKS AT KYLE PARK BEGINNING AT 7 P.M. WITH THE FIREWORKS AT 10PM.


Piqua Summer Concert Series Set to Return

IN PIQUA, THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES BEGINS ON THE FOURTH AT 3PM AT HANCE PAVILION. PLANS ARE IN PLACE TO SOCIALLY DISTANCE THE PIQUA CIVIL BAND MEMBERS AND THE AUDIENCE TO PROTECT FROM COVID-19. THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.


Meijer Construction

CONSTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY ON MEIJER DISTRIBUTION CENTER’S NEW AUTOMATED WAREHOUSE WEST OF INTERSTATE 75 IN TIPP CITY. THE COST OF THE NEARLY 371-THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WAS LISTED ON THE BUILDING PERMIT AT $10 MILLION. THE WAREHOUSE IS BEING BUILT NORTH OF KERR ROAD ON 160 ACRES OF LAND ANNEXED TO TIPP CITY LAST YEAR. ONCE COMPLETED, THE FACILITY WILL SERVE MEIJER STORES IN OHIO, SOUTHEASTERN INDIANA AND NORTHERN KENTUCKY.


Troy Names New Wastewater Plant Superintendent

THE CITY OF TROY HAS PROMOTED KEN PARKS AS SUPERINTENDENT OF THE TROY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT. PARKS HOLDS 27 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AS A WASTEWATER TREATMENT TECHNICIAN WITH THE CITY OF TROY. HE WAS PROMOTED IN 2012 AS AN OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN AND AGAIN 2016 AS ASSISTANT PLANT SUPERINTENDENT.


Shelby County Road Work

REPAIR WORK IS UNDERWAY ON THE CARDO ROAD BRIDGE IN SHELBY COUNTY. CARDO ROAD IS CLOSED BETWEEN BURGER ROAD AND STATE ROUTE 66. ACCORDING TO SHELBY COUNTY ENGINEER BOB GEUY, THE REPAIR WORK ON THE BRIDGE SHOULD TAKE ABOUT A MONTH TO COMPLETE.


Miami Valley Museum Free Coffee

THE MIAMI VALLEY MUSEUM WILL HOLD THE FIRST FREE “VETERANS COFFEE” AT ITS NEW MUSEUM SITE TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY, JULY 1), FROM 9 TO 11:30 A.M., AT 2245 S. COUNTY ROAD 25A. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST COFFEE EVENT TO BE HELD SINCE THE COVID-19 CLOSURES. HANDICAP PARKING IS AVAILABLE AT THE NEW LOCATION
