AN URBANA-BASED ATTORNEY, WHO RECENTLY HAD HIS STATE LICENSE TO

PRACTICE LAW SUSPENDED, IS IN CUSTODY AGAIN AFTER A HIGH-SPEED CHASE

THAT ENDED IN A CRASH SOUTH OF URBANA LAST WEEK. 39-YEAR OLD RYAN

REED WAS ARRESTED AFTER CRASHING HIS CAR ON WOODBURN ROAD WEST

OF U.S. 68. ACCORDING TO CHAMPAIGN COUNTY SHERIFF MATT MELVIN, IT’S

THE THIRD TIME HE’S BEEN IN JAIL SINCE MAY. DEPUTIES CHASED REED AFTER

BEING ALERTED TO POSSIBLE THREATS HE MAY HAVE MADE INVOLVING A

WOMAN IN URBANA. REED WAS ALREADY ACCUSED OF ENTERING A WOMAN’S

HOME ON SCIOTO STREET ON MAY 14..

IN TIPP CITY, EAST MAIN STREET REMAINS CLOSED FROM FIRST STREET TO

STATE ROUTE 202 AFTER THE FLOOR OF THE FORMER TIPP BUGGY WHIP

BUILDING COLLAPSED INTO THE BASEMENT SUNDAY. TIPP CITY CHIEF OF

EMERGENCY SERVICES CAMERON HALLER SAID THE BUILDING WAS

IMMEDIATELY CONDEMNED BY MIAMI COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH. HALLER SAYS

THE HISTORIC BUILDING IS SHOWING SIGNS OF IMMINENT COLLAPSE.


Miami County Drug Dealer Sentenced

A DAYTON MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING IN MIAMI

COUNTY. 34-YEAR OLD DWAYNE ALSTON APPEARED IN MIAMI COUNTY

COMMON PLEAS COURT BEFORE JUDGE STACY WALL WHO SENTENCED HIM TO

14 MONTHS IN PRISON. PRIOR TO SENTENCING, ALSTON WAS FOUND TO HAVE

BEEN SELLING THE COCAINE WHILE IN DRUG TREATMENT.


COVID-19 Death in Miami County

MIAMI COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH REPORTS A COVID-19 DEATH, THE FIRST IN

MORE THAN A MONTH. THIS DEATH, A MALE IN HIS 80S, NOT RELATED TO A

LONG-TERM CARE FACILITY, IS BELIEVED TO HAVE PASSED AWAY LAST

WEEK. MIAMI COUNTY HAS RECORDED 13 NEW COVID-19 CASES AND ONE

NEW HOSPITALIZATION SINCE FRIDAY.


Man Indicted for Stabbing

THE SHELBY COUNTY GRAND JURY HAS INDICTED A SIDNEY MAN WITH

FELONIOUS ASSAULT. 36-YEAR OLD TYLER SANCHEZ IS ACCUSED OF STABBING

A WOMAN ON JUNE 5. SANCHEZ REMAINS IN THE SHELBY COUNTY JAIL ON 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS CASH BOND AND WILL BE ARRAIGNED IN SHELBY COUNTY

COMMON PLEAS COURT ON JULY 3.

ADDITIONAL MIAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES WILL BE ON PATROL FOR

UPCOMING JULY FOURTH HOLIDAY. THE EXTRA PATROLS WILL BE WORKING

OVERTIME FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT FROM JULY 3RD

THROUGH JULY 5TH. THE PRIMARY FOCUS WILL BE ON REMOVING IMPAIRED

DRIVERS AND ENFORCING OTHER CRASH CAUSING VIOLATIONS. A GRANT

FROM THE OHIO OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES WILL PAY FOR THE

OVERTIME AND FOR SOME FUEL COSTS.


Covington Man Missing

STILL NO SIGN OF A COVINGTON MAN MISSING FOUR MONTHS NOW. 48-

YEAR OLD DAVID FUGATE HAS BEEN MISSING SINCE FEBRUARY 29. COVINGTON

POLICE SAY FUGATE IS 5-FOOT-10, 215 POUNDS, HAS GRAYISH BLACK HAIR,

BROWN EYES AND WEARS GLASSES.
